My "Other" Life

Outside of school, a whole other life takes place!  Here's a little about me:

I entered the Army right out of high school and proudly served for six years as a medic.  During that time, I was stationed in Georgia, Texas (twice), Colorado and Germany.  I also met my husband while on active duty, and our family started growing.

I would have continued with my military career, however, I decided it was more important to be at home with our four children when they were young.  My husband's military career continued to take us around the globe, as we traveled to Arizona, Washington and back to Germany.

We finally settled in the Phoenix metro area, where all of our children attended high school.  During those years, I had a completely different career while finishing my teaching certification.  I worked in the juvenile justice system for 5 years; 2 years with the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections, as a Youth Corrections Officer, and 3 years as a Juvenile Detention Officer with the Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department. Once my credentials were completed, I started teaching at Barry Goldwater High School, and have been here ever since.

Our children are all grown now, three of them following in the family tradition of military life.  We currently have 2 sons serving in the Army and a daughter in the Navy.  Our eldest is married and lives here in town.  He and his wife are currently expecting their first child.  Our next eldest son is also married .  We have filled the void of our "empty nest" with a dog and a very active kitten!
